Throwing on the Potter's Wheel
I offer private throwing lessons on the potter's wheel in my home studio. I have been throwing on the potter's wheel for 28 years. Students need to be at least 10 years old to start. Lessons are one hour long, recommended once a week.
Lessons are $70 each which includes materials and firing. Students may start with one lesson to assess their interest level and then may continue to add on sessions as desired. Since these are private lessons, I will work with parents to schedule a class time for their student.
Students enrolled in private potter’s wheel throwing lessons will learn the basics of working with clay as it relates to the potter’s wheel. Students will learn wedging, centering, pulling, trimming, firing, glazing, and finally use their creations. They will learn the stages of clay and how to work with each stage. Projects will include, but are not limited to, cups, bowls, plates, pitchers, serving ware, vases, and teapot sets.
Hand building
Students age 8 and up can learn hand building! Attend a once a week group class in my outdoor classroom to make different projects each week. Classes are Tuesdays 2:30-4:00. Hand building methods include pinch, coil, slab, and sculpture. Classes are an hour and a half long. Each class is $45 which includes materials and firing. Parents and siblings not using charter funds can add on for $20 per class.
Students may sign up for one class at a time and then add on after that as desired.
Students enrolled in hand-building classes will learn the basics of working with clay through the methods of pinch, coil, slab, and sculpture. They will also learn ceramics vocabulary. Students will learn the entire process of ceramics from creation to glazing and firing. Projects will include, but are not limited to, pinch pots, animal sculptures, ocarinas, mugs, plates, vases, and teapots.

I accept charter school funds from Sage Oak, Springs, Granite Mountain, Sky Mountain, Compass, Suncoast Prep, Scale, and Mission Vista or cash (ask me about cash prices) if you do not pay through a charter school.
